We looked at over 70 accredited colleges and universities offering online doctorate degrees in any discipline. To determine our list of 20 schools, we applied specific methodology listed below. We examined the number of available doctoral programs, the percentage of applicants admitted (selectivity rate), the student-to-faculty ratios, and graduate tuition and fees. We collected data from the most recent information published by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) College Navigator. We synthesized the collected information to develop our list of the 20 best online schools for doctorate degrees. In the event of a tie, the school with the lower graduate tuition was placed higher on our list.
