Five schools within TESC provide focus on the arts and sciences, applied science and technology, business and management, nursing, and public service. There are seven associate’s degrees and 21 bachelor’s degree programs from which undergraduate students can choose.

There are 18 graduate-level degrees available, as well as 22 graduate certificates in various disciplines. Sixty-five of the degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level are available online, as well as 38 of the certificates at both levels. Thomas Edison State College Accreditation Details

The university, as a whole, enjoys accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. In addition, the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education is responsible for the school’s licensing.

Thomas Edison State University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and New Jersey Board of Nursing. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Science in Human Resources Management degrees have accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs.

Thomas Edison State College Application Requirements

Because of the college’s emphasis on admitting adult learners, prospective students must be at least 20, or 18 and an active, enlisted member of the military. No students under 18 are eligible for admission.

Basic undergraduate admission requirements include:

  • A high school diploma, a home school high school diploma or a GED
  • Transcripts from all colleges or universities you’ve attended
  • International English Language Testing System or Test of English as a Foreign Language scores for international students from non-English-speaking countries
  • BSN applicants must have a current nursing license

Students who are 18 or 19 may request a waiver for admission but are required to take the Accuplacer, Next Generation exam.

Students who have previously attended a regionally accredited community college may transfer a maximum of 90 credits. Students who have attended an accredited four-year university may transfer all their credits but must take Critical Information Literacy and the capstone through the college.

Applicants to master’s programs must have a bachelor’s degree related to the master’s program being sought and should have a GPA of 3.0 or better. Students pursuing a master’s program that differs from the bachelor’s program are advised to consult with an admissions specialist. Students below the minimum GPA level need to submit and resume and personal statement.

Online students, whether they are undergraduate or graduate, may apply using the online application. The same requirements that apply to on-campus undergraduate and graduate applicants also apply to prospective online learners. After the application is evaluated, students will receive their notification by both email and postal mail.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Thomas Edison State College has tuition plans that are flexible and affordable for both online and on-campus students. In addition to flexible tuition payment options, the school also offers financial aid options.

Full-time students taking ten or more credits per semester pay $3,963 if a New Jersey resident and $4,928 if out-of-state. Students using TCEP exams for $50 per each lower-level credit and $75 for each upper-level credit. A Prior Learning Assessment is $178 per credit.

Graduate tuition is $668 per credit, with MBA costing $714 per credit and the DBA costing $905 per credit. Online undergraduate and graduate students pay the same tuition as their on-campus peers.

Financial aid options make it easier for Thomas Edison State University students to afford college. Veterans have access to benefits under the G.I. bill for both undergraduate and graduate-level courses.

Federal grants and loans are also available to students, with grants based on criteria that include financial need. Private bank loans, as well as scholarships from organizations, are also options that students may wish to pursue.

Students will need to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to start the process for obtaining the aid they seek. Because FAFSA processing can take four to six weeks, students should complete this process as soon as possible.
