The University of Miami is divided into 12 different colleges and schools, which include the School of Architecture, Miami Herbert Business School, the School of Communication, the College of Engineering, the School of Education and Human Development, the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Law, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, Miller School of Medicine, Frost School of Music, the School of Nursing and Health Studies, and the Graduate School. The university also offers several online graduate programs for busy, professional students who are unable to commute to campus. About the University of Miami
The University of Miami is a private research university that was established in the year 1925. It is located in Coral Gables, Florida, which is less than five minutes from downtown Miami. The university is considered a medium-sized college with an undergraduate population of 11,117 and a campus stretching across 239 acres of land. University of Miami Accreditation Details
The University of Miami has received its accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), a regional accrediting agency located in Decatur, Georgia.
The SACSCOC provides accreditation to colleges and universities located in the southern region of the United States, which includes the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.
University of Miami Application Requirements
For individuals interested in an undergraduate program, the application process consists of filling out an application form, paying the $70 application fee, turning in high school transcripts, submitting SAT or ACT test scores, providing a school report completed by a high school guidance counselor, and turning in two letters of recommendation from a teacher and guidance counselor. The application form contains an essay section, where the applicant must write around 650 words on a certain subject.
Prospective graduate students are required to fill out an application form, pay the $85 application fee ($100 for Frost School of Music programs), submit GRE or GMAT test scores, provide undergraduate college transcripts, and turn in letters of recommendation. There are additional admission requirements, depending on the academic program that the individual chooses to pursue.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate students can expect to pay $73,712 per academic year, including fees, housing, meals, books, personal expenses, and transportation. Graduate students can expect to pay $38,908 per academic year, not including any additional fees or expenses.
All undergraduate students are considered for scholarships automatically by the University of Miami. Some of the scholarships that are awarded each year to undergraduate students are the Stamps Scholarship, Isaac Bashevis Singer Scholarship, Ronald A. Hammond Scholarship, Marta S. and L. Austin Weeks Endowed Scholarship, George W. Jenkins Scholarship, President’s Scholarship, and the Canes Achievement Award.
Depending on the specific requirements, graduate students may apply for fellowships, scholarships, and loans through the university.
