The application is open to students focusing on a wide variety of counseling interests and specializations. The award totals $500 and will be issued directly to the winner. Winners are selected based on their written responses to questions regarding their academic and career goals, and how they wish to create positive social change through their degrees and resulting careers.

3. American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy

Another excellent path toward a counseling career is to earn a degree in marriage and family therapy. The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) offers a diverse selection of scholarships and awards to diverse types of students. 4. Future Counselors of America Scholarship

Future relationship counselors are invited to apply for the Future Counselors of America Scholarship, courtesy of DatingAdvice.com. Students must hold a GPA of at least 3.5 and submit a 500-900 word essay. This year’s topic is “The Psychology of Online Dating.” Awards total $1000 each, and both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

5. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority

Through the support of their many scholarships and awards, the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority aims to assist undergraduate and graduate students in achieving their academic and career goals. Many, such as the Lullelia W. Harrison Counseling Scholarship, are designed specifically for students pursuing counseling and other related degrees. Eligibility varies by the award, and Zeta Phi Beta offers options for many types of students.
